About Our Ireland Document Translation Services

Official Translations provides certified translations of every document type Irish bodies ask for. Whether you need a birth certificate translated for marriage notification, an academic transcript for the CAO, or a foreign will for the Probate Office, our professional translators deliver accurate, certified translations.

Ireland has no sworn translators. Irish bodies accept a translation by a professional translator or translation company, signed and dated, with a statement of accuracy and the translator’s contact details, which is exactly what our Certificate of Accuracy provides.

We translate from and into over 100 languages, including those most spoken in Irish homes: Polish, Romanian, Portuguese, Spanish and Lithuanian. An apostille is available for documents going abroad.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a certified translation in Ireland? +
Ireland has no state-appointed sworn translators. Irish bodies accept a translation made by a professional translator or translation company, with a signed statement that it is a true and accurate translation of the original, the date, and the translator’s name and contact details. That is exactly what our Certificate of Accuracy provides.
Do I need a sworn translation for Ireland? +
No. Sworn translators exist in many European countries, but not in Ireland. If an Irish body asks for an “official” or “certified” translation, a professional certified translation is what they mean. The CAO, for example, defines an official translation as one “carried out by a professional translation service provider”.
How much does a certified translation cost? +
€29.95 per page (300 source words), the same for every language. Most certificates fit on one page. An apostille and a hard copy by tracked post can be added at checkout.
How fast will I get it? +
Standard turnaround is 24 hours for documents of 1–3 pages. Longer documents take a little longer, and we confirm the delivery time before you pay. A 12-hour expedited service is available on request.
My document is in Irish. Do I need a translation? +
Not for Irish public bodies: English and Irish are both official languages, and documents in either are accepted. If you need an Irish-language document translated into English for use abroad, we can help.
