NMBI asks for a certified English translation carried out by a qualified translator and signed and stamped by the translator.
The translation must be in writing and include the translator's professional contact details: telephone number, address and email address. Ours are printed on every certificate.
The translator must confirm, in English, that the translation is an exact translation of the original document. Our Certificate of Accuracy states this.
Photocopies must be certified by, for example, a solicitor, notary public, peace commissioner or commissioner for oaths, and must be first-generation copies, not copies of copies.
For non-EU applicants, an NMBI Education Assessor reviews your transcript of training, so theory and clinical hours must be translated in full.
NMBI states that applicants pay translation costs, and that valid, translated documents avoid delays. Missing translations are a common reason for an incomplete application.

Nurses come to Ireland from all over the world, but not every file needs translating. Here is what applicants from the largest source countries usually need, starting with the honest answer for English-language documents.
Indian and Filipino nursing degrees, transcripts and council certificates are normally issued in English, so NMBI needs no translation. We only help if a page, stamp or name-change document is in Hindi, Malayalam, Tagalog or another language.

We translate the dyplom, the suplement with teoria and praktyka zawodowa hours, and Polish-only certificates from the izba pielęgniarek i położnych, including the prawo wykonywania zawodu number.
Romanian files often include the diplomă de licență or the diplomă de absolvire from a școală postliceală, and certificates from OAMGMAMR. We keep the exact title, since the two routes are assessed differently.
