Many Pakistani documents are already in English, but the ones Irish bodies query most are not: the handwritten Nikah Nama, Union Council birth entries, talaq papers and Urdu court orders. Our native Urdu translators read the handwriting, render every stamp and thumbprint note, and deliver a signed English translation with a Certificate of Accuracy, our stamp and a reference number. €29.95 per page, with most orders ready within 24 hours.
Census 2022 counted 16,307 people speaking Urdu at home, a rise of 23% since 2016. The community is young: close to a third are aged 18 or under, many of them born here. South Dublin and Fingal have the largest groups, followed by Dublin City, Cork, Meath and Limerick. Family life drives most of our Urdu work, from marriage and children’s passports to citizenship, and it usually turns on one or two key documents written in Urdu rather than English.

نکاح نامہ (Nikah Nama)
The Nikah Nama is a printed Urdu form filled in by hand, with clauses on mehr, delegated divorce rights and witnesses. We translate every column, including crossed-out clauses, and the NADRA marriage registration certificate if you have it.
پیدائشی سرٹیفکیٹ
Union Council birth certificates are often handwritten or partly in Urdu, while NADRA’s computerised versions are mostly English. We translate the Urdu parts and flag any spelling that differs from your passport.
طلاق نامہ
A talaq deed is usually followed by a certificate from the Union Council’s Arbitration Council confirming the divorce took effect. We translate both, with dates, notice periods and signatories exactly as recorded.
عدالتی ڈگری
Pakistani family courts issue khula, custody and maintenance decrees, sometimes with Urdu orders or statements attached. We translate the whole bundle. For Irish court use, ask your solicitor how the translator’s affidavit should be handled.
وفات کا سرٹیفکیٹ
Issued by the Union Council or a local municipal body, often with Urdu entries for the cause and place of death. We translate each entry and keep the registration number exactly as printed.
شناختی کارڈ، ب فارم
Identity cards and the Family Registration Certificate are bilingual, but some fields appear only in Urdu. We translate the Urdu fields so the receiving body in Ireland sees the full family record in English.
وصیت نامہ
Wills made in Pakistan are sometimes handwritten in Urdu on stamp paper. For Irish assets, the Probate Office needs a translation with a translator’s affidavit, so ask your solicitor how it should be handled.
سند
Madrassa sanad certificates are written in Urdu and Arabic. We translate the title, institution, subjects and grades so that an employer or QQI can see what the qualification covers.

When a Pakistani national married to an EU citizen applies for residence under EU Treaty Rights, ISD asks for the marriage certificate in English, translated by a qualified professional translator. The Nikah Nama is usually the document in question.
Naturalisation applicants upload birth and marriage records. English NADRA documents need no translation, but any Urdu Nikah Nama or Union Council entry must be translated by a professional translator.
If you plan to marry in Ireland, the Civil Registration Service needs three months’ notice. A Pakistani birth certificate or talaq certificate must be in English, and may also need an apostille from Pakistan.
Parents of Irish-born children are sometimes asked for their marriage certificate. The Passport Office requires a certified translation into English or Irish for any document in another language.
The Department of Social Protection wants a verified copy of the original certificate, not a translation on its own. Send our translation together with the verified copy it requests.
Where a Pakistani decree or Urdu statement is used in District or Circuit Court proceedings, court rules ask for a translator’s affidavit on qualifications and accuracy. Ask your solicitor how it should be handled.
