Croatian to English
Certified Translation

🇭🇷 Certificirani prijevod na engleski jezik

Croatian is one of the fastest-growing languages in Ireland, and with growth comes paperwork: izvadci from the matični ured, državna matura results, nursing licences and court rulings. Our native Croatian translators work from documents issued in Croatia and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, keeping č, ć, đ, š and ž distinct. You receive a signed Certificate of Accuracy with our stamp and reference number. €29.95 per page, with most orders returned within 24 hours.

Croatian in Ireland: Up 137% Since 2016

Census 2022 recorded 12,247 people speaking Croatian at home, compared with 5,176 in 2016, an increase of 137% that CSO highlighted as one of the sharpest of any language. Dublin City has the largest group, closely followed by Cork, then Fingal, South Dublin, Kildare and Louth. Because so many arrived recently, our Croatian work centres on first steps: professional registration, school and college applications, weddings and, increasingly, citizenship.

Croatian Documents We Translate Most

Birth certificate

Izvadak iz matice rođenih

Croatian registry offices issue an izvadak from the birth register, often called the rodni list. Documents from Bosnia and Herzegovina use the term izvod iz matične knjige rođenih. We translate both formats.

Marriage certificate

Izvadak iz matice vjenčanih

We translate the spouses’ details, the surnames chosen at marriage and the place of the ceremony, whether civil or a church wedding with civil effect entered in the register.

Divorce judgment

Presuda o razvodu braka

Croatian divorce judgments carry a stamp confirming they are final (pravomoćna). We translate the ruling, that stamp and any arrangements for children, which Irish registrars and courts may both ask to see.

Certificate of no criminal record

Uvjerenje o nekažnjavanju

Issued by the Ministry of Justice, including as an electronic certificate via e-Građani. We translate it with its verification details for employers, the Teaching Council or other registration bodies.

State Matura certificate

Svjedodžba o državnoj maturi

We translate the State Matura certificate with each subject, the basic (osnovna) or higher (viša) level and the grades, together with the final school report if the CAO or a college needs it.

Degree and diploma supplement

Diploma i dopunska isprava o studiju

Croatian degrees come with a dopunska isprava listing ECTS credits and grades. We translate both, plus titles such as mag. ing. or univ. bacc., so QQI can place the award correctly.

Identity card

Osobna iskaznica

We translate the Croatian identity card, keeping the OIB (personal identification number) exactly, for banks, landlords or Irish bodies that ask for a translated ID alongside your passport.

Nursing licence

Odobrenje za samostalan rad

Croatian nurses hold a licence for independent practice from the nursing chamber. We translate it with your diploma and hours of training so NMBI has the full set in English.

FAQs

Croatian Translation: Common Questions

How much do Croatian translations cost?+
€29.95 per page (300 words of Croatian source text). An izvadak or uvjerenje is usually a single page. The rate is identical for Croatian, Bosnian and Serbian documents, and for every other language.
What is the turnaround for Croatian documents?+
Most orders of up to three pages are delivered within 24 hours. Larger professional-registration files take a little longer, and we tell you the delivery date before payment. A 12-hour expedited option exists for urgent cases; ask us first.
Do I need a sudski tumač for Irish use?+
No. Croatian authorities use permanent court interpreters (stalni sudski tumač), but Ireland has no sworn translators. What Irish bodies look for is a certified translation from a professional translator, signed and dated with contact details, which our Certificate of Accuracy provides.
Do Croatian or Bosnian certificates need an apostille or a translation?+
Croatia is in the EU, so its civil documents need no apostille in Ireland, and a multilingual standard form under Regulation 2016/1191 can replace the translation at ISD and the Civil Registration Service; many other bodies still want one. Bosnia and Herzegovina is outside the EU, so its certificates need a translation and may need an apostille for uses such as marriage notification.
Can you translate Irish documents into Croatian?+
Yes, from English into Croatian, for example an Irish birth certificate for entry in the Croatian registers. Croatian offices often want a translation certified by a Croatian court interpreter, so check with the office or the Croatian Embassy in Dublin before ordering.
How do you write đ, ć and č in English?+
We keep them exactly as they appear: Đurđević stays Đurđević, and Ćosić and Čosić remain different names. If your Irish documents use a simplified form such as Djurdjevic, we add it in brackets so both spellings are linked.
I grew up in Bosnia and Herzegovina but hold a Croatian passport. Which documents do I need translated?+
Usually the Bosnian civil records and the Croatian ones issued since. We translate both sets, in Latin or Cyrillic script, and match every name to your Croatian passport so the file reads consistently.
