Census 2022 recorded 57,383 people speaking Romanian at home, up from 36,683 in 2016, making it the second most common foreign language spoken at home, behind only Polish. The community is concentrated around Dublin, with 12,791 speakers in Fingal and 10,988 in Dublin City, and thousands more in Co. Meath and Co. Kildare. The requests we handle most often are medical and nursing registration, naturalisation, marriage notification and school records for children joining Irish schools or third level.

Certificat de naștere
Issued by the Starea Civilă office at the local Primărie. Older certificates are handwritten on printed forms; we transcribe every entry and reproduce the CNP and the certificate’s series and number exactly as printed.
Certificat de căsătorie
Shows each spouse’s surname before and after the marriage. Romania can attach an EU multilingual standard form, but for a passport in a married name or a citizenship file many clients still send a full translation.
Certificat de divorț / Sentință civilă de divorț
Romanian divorces can be granted by a court, a notary or the civil registrar. We translate the court sentință with its finality wording, or the certificat de divorț issued after an administrative or notarial divorce.
Cazier judiciar
Issued by the Romanian Police and also obtainable through a Romanian consulate. Employers and registration bodies in Ireland prefer a recent one, so order the translation once you hold the certificate you will actually submit.
Diplomă de bacalaureat
Lists each exam with its mark out of 10 and the overall average (media). We translate it with the foaie matricolă for the high school years when a university or the CAO asks for the full record.
Diplomă de licență
The degree parchment plus its supliment la diplomă. QQI NARIC asks for an official translation of the parchment and transcript to place your licență on the Irish National Framework of Qualifications.
Diplomă de asistent medical generalist
Romanian general nurses registering with NMBI need the diploma, the transcript and a certificate of current professional status from OAMGMAMR, each translated, signed and stamped with the translator’s phone, address and email.
Certificat de deces
Needed in Ireland when you remarry after bereavement or deal with a relative’s estate. We translate the date and place of death, the registrar’s details and the deceased’s CNP exactly as recorded.

After five years’ reckonable residence, Romanian citizens can apply for Irish citizenship, and Romania allows dual citizenship. ISD wants a professional translation with a copy of the original, so we translate your birth certificate and any marriage or divorce record.
Book your HSE Civil Registration Service appointment at least three months ahead. A Romanian partner usually brings a birth certificate and, if previously married, the divorce certificate; ask whether your registrar will take the multilingual form instead.
Families arriving with teenagers are often asked for the foaie matricolă and the certificat de absolvire so an Irish secondary school can place a student in the right year. We translate subject lists and grades exactly.
Nursing homes, home-care providers and HSE roles often ask for a police certificate from each country where you lived as an adult. We translate the cazier judiciar quickly so it can sit in your file next to your Garda vetting.
Transcribing an Irish marriage or birth into the Romanian civil register (transcriere) usually calls for a Romanian traducător autorizat and a notary’s legalisation. Check with the consulate or primărie first; we translate into Romanian when a professional translation is accepted.
