FAQs

Use Cases: Common Questions

Which Irish bodies ask for certified translations?+
Immigration Service Delivery (visas, residence permissions, EU Treaty Rights and citizenship), the HSE Civil Registration Service, the Passport Office and Foreign Births Register, the CAO and universities, SUSI, QQI, professional registration bodies such as NMBI, CORU and the Medical Council, the courts, the Probate Office and the CRO.
Is the price different for each use?+
No. Every certified translation is €29.95 per page (300 source words), whatever it is for and whatever the language.
Do I need an apostille?+
Usually not for use in Ireland. An apostille is for documents going abroad. For an Irish visa, our translation is certified and signed in the EU, inside the EEA, so ISD does not need it apostilled; your original documents from outside the EEA may still need their own apostille from the issuing country.
