Georgian to English
Certified Translation

🇬🇪 სერტიფიცირებული თარგმანი ინგლისურ ენაზე

Georgian is a small language in Ireland, which makes a reliable translator harder to find. Ours are native speakers who read the Mkhedruli script fluently, translate Soviet-era Russian records too, and transliterate names to match your Georgian passport. From a დაბადების მოწმობა for a marriage notification to a university დიპლომი for QQI, you receive a signed Certificate of Accuracy with our stamp. The price is €29.95 per page, the same as any language, and most orders take 24 hours.

A Small Georgian Community That Has Doubled

Census 2022 counted 1,309 people speaking Georgian at home, more than double the 645 recorded in 2016. About half live in Co. Dublin, most of them in Dublin City, with the next largest group in Cork. As a non-EU community, Georgian speakers deal with more paperwork than most: apostilles on source documents, EU Treaty Rights applications for spouses of EU citizens, and qualifications that must be translated before any Irish college or employer can assess them.

Georgian Documents We Translate Most

Birth certificate

დაბადების მოწმობა

Issued through the Public Service Hall (იუსტიციის სახლი). We translate every entry and the personal number (პირადი ნომერი), and translate Soviet-era certificates written in Russian or in both languages.

Marriage certificate

ქორწინების მოწმობა

We translate the civil marriage certificate with both spouses’ names, dates of birth and the surname chosen after marriage. A church wedding alone is not a civil record, so Irish bodies ask for this certificate.

Divorce certificate

განქორწინების მოწმობა

Georgian divorces are recorded in a divorce certificate, sometimes supported by a court decision. We translate both, which a divorced partner needs for marriage notification in Ireland.

Criminal record certificate

ნასამართლობის შესახებ ცნობა

Requested through the Public Service Hall or online, and needed by some Irish employers and registration bodies. We translate every Georgian line, the issue date and the reference number.

School-leaving certificate

სრული ზოგადი განათლების ატესტატი

The certificate of complete general education, with its subject grades, is what Irish colleges and the CAO look at. We translate it together with any national examination results.

University diploma and supplement

დიპლომი და დიპლომის დანართი

Georgian universities follow the Bologna model, so degrees come with a diploma supplement showing credits and grades. We translate the Georgian parts of both for QQI, universities and employers.

Identity card

პირადობის მოწმობა

The Georgian ID card carries the 11-digit personal number that links all your civil records. We translate it, keeping the number exactly, when an Irish body asks for ID in English.

Medical records

ამონაწერი სამედიცინო ბარათიდან

Extracts from your medical file, discharge summaries and vaccination records from Georgian clinics. We translate diagnoses, medicines and doses carefully so your GP or hospital in Ireland has a clear history.

FAQs

Georgian Translation: Common Questions

How much does a Georgian translation cost?+
€29.95 per page of 300 Georgian source words, with no premium for a less common language. A civil certificate is normally one page, and the price is the same whether it is in Georgian, Russian or both.
How long will a Georgian translation take?+
Our standard is 24 hours for one to three pages. For a diploma supplement or a thick medical file, we agree the date with you before you pay. An expedited 12-hour turnaround can be requested for urgent deadlines.
Do I need a notarised or sworn Georgian translation in Ireland?+
Not for most Irish uses. Ireland has no sworn translators, and bodies such as ISD and the Civil Registration Service look for a certified translation by a professional translator. The notarised translation (ნოტარიულად დამოწმებული თარგმანი) used in Georgia is a Georgian practice. Irish courts and the Probate Office are the exception and want a translator’s affidavit, so ask your solicitor how it should be handled.
Does my Georgian certificate need an apostille?+
It may. Georgia is a party to the Apostille Convention, and Citizens Information notes that birth certificates issued outside the EU may need an apostille or legalisation for marriage notification. The apostille is added to the original in Georgia; we then translate the certificate and the apostille together.
Can you translate Irish documents into Georgian?+
Yes. We translate Irish birth, marriage and other certificates into Georgian, for example to register an Irish-born child in Georgia. Georgian agencies usually expect a translation notarised in Georgia, so check with the receiving office or the Georgian embassy before ordering.
How will my name be spelled in English?+
We follow your passport, which uses Georgia’s official romanisation, so ღ becomes gh, ყ becomes q and წ becomes ts. Georgian has no capital letters in everyday writing, so we apply English capitalisation to names such as Beridze or Kapanadze.
My documents are from Soviet Georgia and partly in Russian. Is that a problem?+
No. Records from before 1991, and some from the 1990s, mix Georgian and Russian. Our translators read both and translate the whole document into English, transliterating names consistently with your later Georgian documents.
