Portuguese Certified Translation
in Dublin

Portuguese ↔ English · Dublin · Tradução certificada para inglês

Dublin is the centre of Ireland's Brazilian community, and Portuguese is spoken in homes from Dublin 1 to Dún Laoghaire. Most of our Dublin Portuguese work is Brazilian: certidões em inteiro teor, divorce deeds from a cartório, CNH driving licences and Polícia Federal records, with papers from Portugal, Angola and Mozambique alongside. Each page costs €29.95, and one to three pages usually arrive by email within 24 hours.

Certified Portuguese Translation for Dublin

Census 2022 recorded 22,674 people speaking Portuguese at home across the four Dublin council areas.

Many Brazilians in Dublin came first as English-language students and stayed on in hospitality, tech, healthcare or delivery work. Some now marry, have children at the Rotunda or the Coombe and apply for citizenship. Their certidões carry a 32-digit matrícula and averbações that must be translated line by line. Portuguese citizens, by contrast, hold EU certificates that can come with a multilingual form.

Where Portuguese Speakers in Dublin Use Our Translations

Registering a Baby at a Dublin Maternity Hospital

Brazilian parents registering a birth after delivery at the Rotunda, the Coombe or Holles Street may need to show their marriage so both names are recorded. We translate the certidão de casamento, including the regime de bens, for the Civil Registration Service.

Brazilian Weddings at Joyce House

Brazilian partners giving marriage notification in Dublin bring a recent certidão de nascimento, which may need an apostille from Brazil as a non-EU record. We translate the certidão and the apostille, keeping the matrícula intact.

Degree Recognition for Dublin Employers

Brazilian bacharelado graduates applying for roles in Dublin tech and finance firms often ask QQI NARIC to compare their Diploma de Graduação with an Irish award. We translate the parchment, its registration stamps and the histórico escolar.

Portuguese Records for EU Treaty Rights

A Brazilian partner of a Portuguese citizen in Dublin applies to ISD for EU Treaty Rights residence. The Portuguese certidão may come with a multilingual form, but the Brazilian documents need a full translation, which we cover in one order.

Documents

Polícia Federal record for Dublin care and security jobs

Certidão de Antecedentes Criminais

Brazilians applying for care, security or childcare work in Dublin are often asked for a police record from Brazil on top of Garda vetting. We translate the Polícia Federal certidão with its validation code intact, so the Dublin employer can confirm it online in minutes.

CNH for car hire or insurance while living in Dublin

Carteira Nacional de Habilitação (CNH)

Car hire desks and Irish insurers can ask for a Brazilian CNH in English before they give a Dublin driver a quote. We translate the categories, the first-licence date and the observações field. For exchanging a licence, check the NDLS rules yourself first.

Histórico escolar for postgraduate entry at TU Dublin or DCU

Histórico Escolar

Brazilian graduates applying for a master's at TU Dublin or DCU send a histórico escolar listing each disciplina, its carga horária and the final grade. We keep the Brazilian 0 to 10 scale and add the university's grading key, letting admissions convert results fairly.

Local Tip

Before You Order in Dublin

Brazilian certidões issued as digital PDFs with a QR code are usually fine for Dublin employers, but anything for Joyce House or the Passport Office is safer as a recent inteiro teor copy. Because Brazil is outside the EEA, ask whether the office expects the original to carry a Brazilian apostille, which a cartório adds, and sort that out before you order our translation.

Price

€29.95 per page (300 source words) for certified Portuguese translation, with free delivery by email. Add a hard copy by tracked post (€14.95) or an apostille for use abroad (from €149.95) at checkout. See all services.

FAQs

Portuguese Translation in Dublin: Common Questions

Can a car hire desk at Dublin Airport ask for a CNH translation?+
Some do, and a few insurers ask as well. We translate the Carteira Nacional de Habilitação with its categories, first-licence date and observações field, so the desk can read every entry.
Do I need a tradutor público for Dublin?+
No. Ireland has no sworn translators, so a Brazilian tradução juramentada is not required here. ISD, the Civil Registration Service and QQI look for a certified translation with the translator's details, which is what we supply.
My Brazilian name has four parts. Will you shorten it?+
Never. Names such as Ana Paula de Souza Lima are copied exactly as in your passport, with every accent. If your Dublin payslips or PPS record show a shorter version, we can note it in brackets.
What does a certidão em inteiro teor cost to translate?+
Usually one or two pages, so €29.95 or €59.90. An apostille printed on a separate sheet is translated too and counted with the rest.
