Country-Specific Knowledge

We Know Your Country’s Birth Certificate Format

Every country issues birth certificates differently. We’ve translated tens of thousands from every region. Here’s the most common gotcha for each top source.

🇲🇽 Mexico · Acta de Nacimiento

Issued by the Registro Civil. Current CURP-format certificates are single-page printed documents; older records are handwritten or typewritten book extracts. CURP, folio and tome/page numbers are preserved exactly. No apostille is needed for USCIS. A certified translation is sufficient.

🇨🇳 China · 出生医学证明

The 出生医学证明 (hospital-issued birth registration certificate) is the document most commonly submitted to USCIS. Some applicants also hold a 出生公证书 (notarial birth certificate) from a local notary office. We translate both, preserving all stamps, seals and official field text.

🇮🇳 India · Municipal Birth Certificate

Issued by Municipal Corporation, Gram Panchayat or the hospital registrar depending on state. Hindi- and regional-language certificates need translation; English-only ones generally do not. Pre-1969 records are often available only as an affidavit of birth. We translate all formats.

🇵🇭 Philippines · PSA Birth Certificate

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA, formerly NSO) issues birth certificates in English by default. Colonial-era records (early 1900s) may be in Spanish. We also handle annotations, late-registration Form 1A, court-ordered corrections and older NSO-stamped copies.

🇧🇷 Brazil · Certidão de Nascimento

Issued by Cartório de Registro Civil. The current canonical copy is the 2ª via (segunda via). We preserve filiação (parents), avós (grandparents) and the matrícula registration number. Apostille for use abroad is obtained through Brazilian cartório offices.

🇷🇺 Russia / CIS · Свидетельство о рождении

Soviet-era свидетельства were issued as light-colored booklets; modern Russian ones are single-page official forms with a serial number. Ukrainian, Belarusian and Kazakh certificates follow similar formats with their respective state languages. Patronymic (отчество) is preserved in transliteration alongside first and last name.

Every Language Routes Through the Same Trusted Pipeline

We translate birth certificates both into English and from English into any target language. Whether your document is in Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, or any other language, every order follows the same quality-controlled process. You upload, we translate, certify, and deliver – ready to submit to USCIS, courts, or any institution that requires it.

FAQs

Birth Certificate Translation: Common Questions

Is a certified birth certificate translation required for USCIS?+
Yes. Under 8 CFR §103.2(b)(3), any document containing a foreign language submitted to USCIS must be accompanied by a full English translation, certified by the translator as complete and accurate. A self-translation is rejected on first review.
How much does certified birth certificate translation cost?+
$29.95 per page (1 page = 300 source words). Most birth certificates fit on a single page. No surcharges for rarer languages. Free first-class shipping on hard copies.
How long does certified birth certificate translation take?+
Standard turnaround is 24 hours for single-page documents. Most orders are delivered the same business day. For tighter deadlines (sub-24h passport or court submissions), contact us for expedited service.
What languages do you translate birth certificates from?+
All 195+ countries, in 100+ languages. We translate Mexican actas de nacimiento, Chinese 出生医学证明 and 出生公证书, Indian municipal birth certificates, Filipino PSA certificates, Brazilian certidões de nascimento, Russian свидетельства о рождении and every other format.
Is certified birth certificate translation accepted by USCIS, courts, DMV and universities?+
Yes. 100% acceptance guarantee. Every translation includes a signed Certificate of Accuracy in the exact format USCIS, the Department of State, courts, every state DMV and universities require. If anyone rejects it, we revise free or refund.
Do I need notarization or apostille for my birth certificate translation?+
It depends on the receiving institution. USCIS and universities normally do not require notarization. However, many state DMVs, courts and marriage-license offices do. Notarization is $19.95 per order. Apostille ($149.95 per document) is normally required when your translated document will be used abroad in a Hague Convention country. Both available as add-ons at checkout.
Can you translate a damaged or hard-to-read birth certificate?+
Yes. We accept scans, photos and clear copies. Illegible sections are marked as [illegible] per USCIS practice, with translator notes where appropriate. If we cannot certify a portion, you’ll know before paying.
