FAQs

CRA & Tax Translation: Common Questions

Does the CRA accept translated foreign tax documents?+
Yes. The Canada Revenue Agency accepts foreign-language documents when they are accompanied by a certified translation. Our signed Certificate of Accuracy is accepted for tax filings, residency reviews and benefit claims.
Do you convert the amounts to Canadian dollars?+
No. We render the figures and currencies exactly as they appear on the original document. Currency conversion for your return is done separately using the CRA’s prescribed exchange rates – changing the numbers would misstate the source.
Which tax documents do people usually translate?+
Foreign tax returns and notices of assessment, employer income and withholding statements, pension and investment statements, bank statements, and tax-residency certificates. Translate any supporting document not issued in English or French.
Can you ship a signed hard copy?+
Yes. Most CRA submissions accept the free digital certified translation, but we can ship a printed, signed hard copy on request. Standard shipping is $34.95 (2–4 business days) and Express is $49 (1–2 business days).
